High-Precision Positioning for Outdoor Operations

The difficulty in deploying high-precision positioning outdoors is not the device, but three things: point selection, power supply and data backhaul.

Three common field issues

01

Point and sky view

If the installation point is obstructed, the fixed solution comes and goes.

02

Power and protection

A long-term outdoor point has to solve power supply, lightning and protection.

03

Data backhaul

Without data make-up and resume-on-reconnect, gaps appear in the field record when the network is unstable.

Device specifications (source parameters)

H13 centimetre-level RTK handheld terminal

All-constellation centimetre-level RTK; NTRIP CORS differential support, fixed-solution convergence <10s.

Satellite systems: BeiDou-3 + GPS + GLONASS + Galileo + QZSS + SBAS; update rate 1-20Hz (10Hz default).

Communication: 4G all-network + Bluetooth 5.1; ISP high-definition display + voice prompts.

Device: IP67, 2m drop resistance, 4000mAh, RTK runtime ≥20h; USB-C 5V/2A.

H11 portable multi-frequency positioning terminal

Three versions: single-BeiDou / dual-frequency / Pro; channels 128 / 128 / 1408 (the Pro shares the same module as the H13, NebulasIV).

RTK accuracy: horizontal 1cm+1ppm / 1cm+1ppm / 0.8cm+1ppm; vertical 2cm+1ppm / 2cm+1ppm / 1.5cm+1ppm.

Update rate 1-10Hz / 1-10Hz / 1-20Hz; the Pro version supports more BeiDou/GPS/GLONASS/Galileo/QZSS/NavIC/SBAS frequencies.

4G all-network CAT1 + NTRIP + MQTT + dual-mode Bluetooth; OLED display, IP67; USB-C, 5V/2A adapter; GboxTools configuration.

MG20 RTK customizable PCBA module

UM980 + 4G + Bluetooth; 1408 channels (NebulasIV); supply range 5-30V.

Supported frequencies: BeiDou B1I/B2I/B3I/B1C/B2a/B2b, GPS L1/L2/L5, GLONASS L1/L2, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b/E6, QZSS L1/L2/L5/L6.

RTK accuracy (RMS): horizontal 0.8cm+1ppm, vertical 1.5cm+1ppm; cold start <20s.

Field deployment has to account for point sky view, power and protection, and data backhaul together; comparing device specifications alone is not enough.

Current product models

Current product models (checked 20260929): handheld H13 (all-constellation, multi-frequency professional RTK handheld terminal, Pro tier only) / H11 (single-BeiDou, dual-frequency and Pro versions; overseas H11 ProEU for Europe and H11 ProEN for North America; brand name “BeiDou Xingtan”); module MG20 (RTK customizable PCBA); antennas SK6640 / SK6608. The H11 Pro and H13 share the same module (1408 channels, NebulasIV).

How to choose

01

Define the accuracy requirement first

Whether it is work guidance, equipment monitoring or survey-grade results, the device chosen is different.

02

Then define the installation and power plan

Sky view at the point, power supply method and protection rating, settled in one pass.

03

Finally define the platform-side specification

Reporting rate, coordinate system, data retention and integration method.

Frequently asked questions

Is higher accuracy always better?
Set it against the working objective; excessive accuracy carries cost and power penalties.
What if the network is unstable?
Local caching and resume-on-reconnect are supported, avoiding gaps in the data.
Can it integrate with an existing platform?
Data protocol and interface are confirmed per project.
