How to Select a High-Precision GNSS Antenna

Antenna selection starts with whether the antenna matches the working environment, and only then with the gain figure.

Three common field issues

01

Multipath suppression

Close to metal or glass curtain walls, the ability to reject multipath determines whether the solution stays fixed.

02

Feeder and connector

When losses and connector workmanship are not addressed, the gain saved earlier is lost in the cable.

03

Mounting conditions

Pole, suction and magnetic mounts, and the grounding method, all affect long-term stability.

Device specifications (source parameters)

MG20 RTK customizable PCBA module

UM980 + 4G + Bluetooth; 1408 channels (NebulasIV); supply range 5-30V.

The antenna has to be calculated together with the receiver, module and mounting method; judging by the gain figure alone leads to the wrong choice.

Current product models

Current product models (checked 20260929): handheld H13 (all-constellation, multi-frequency professional RTK handheld terminal, Pro tier only) / H11 (single-BeiDou, dual-frequency and Pro versions; overseas H11 ProEU for Europe and H11 ProEN for North America; brand name “BeiDou Xingtan”); module MG20 (RTK customizable PCBA); antennas SK6640 / SK6608. The H11 Pro and H13 share the same module (1408 channels, NebulasIV).

How to choose

01

Define the working environment first

Open sky, urban area, or an operating surface with heavy obstruction.

02

Then define the mounting method

Pole mount, magnetic mount, or fixed-point installation.

03

Finally confirm the matching components

Feeder length, connector type, and whether the antenna matches a registered module.

Frequently asked questions

Is a higher gain always better?
The radiation pattern and rejection capability matter, not the peak gain alone.
How far can the feeder be extended?
Confirm the length against a loss budget, not by feel.
Can the antenna work with our own module?
Interface and mounting are confirmed per project.
